Medicom Wicket and the mysteries of accuracy in Star Wars collectibles
Okay, okay. Call me a "purist". Call me an "obsessed freak" if you will. No, really, don't call me those things. I am a collector of most things Ewok. I like Ewoks best out of all Star Wars aliens. And I have a huge collection of lots of Ewok related merchandise.
That being said, I demand accuracy in my Ewoks. I love the Kenner/Hasbro figures. But does anyone own the Medicom Wicket that came out awhile back? I usually leap at anything Wicket and snatch it up and buy it. however I just read a figure review at http://www.figures.com that really offset me from ever purchasing this figure. Evidently this Ewok has some drawbacks. Then I noticed his hands. Ewoks have 3 digits, two fingers and a thumb. 3 altogether. This Wicket has 1-2-3-4 fingers. Whaa-? I know I'm just being nitpicky here, and the color is great and the hood is real leather, but you would think that at a high end price and from Medicom (who usually do really accurate and tight sculpts) that they would've
A. Made him in scale with their other Star Wars characters in the line.
B. Articulated his legs to make him more posable.
C. Made his hood removable like the 3 3/4 inch figures.
And given the correct number of fingers!
I dunno, like i said, maybe I'm just weird when it comes to my Ewoks. I also noticed the Galactic Heroes Ewoks have four fingers (Three and a thumb) but I accept this as all Galactic Heroes figures have four fingers. they're made for kiddies and they're cute. So any thoughts on accuracy in the Medicom Wicket or all Star Wars collectibles? Any one else have any thoughts?

I dont collect things like this, but I did see images of it - overall its a nice looking collectible, but the added fingers...well, its sorta comical - I'm not sure how that got past them. This certainly isnt the first time its happened to a collectible or toy though. I would think for a higher end item like a bust or statue that they would pay closer attention, but clearly not in this case. As for Galactic Heroes, its understandable - they are all intentionally sculpted like that, and collectors arent the primary customers, they are geared towards kids, so I doubt Hasbro cares about making them all that accurate...
