Jim's Wooden Figures Update Sept. 2, 2012
I like working with wood and sometimes make wooden toys. This Han is an example of a Star Wars character that I've done. More can be seen at my blog Cole's Wooden Toys

James - I love your wooden figures, these are something I would have loved to play with as a little kid!

Thanks! I hope to be making some more soon. I still need to make my first Ewoks character!

Unfortunately my wood lathe still isn't set up at my new place, but here's a picture of some other wood figures that I made earlier this year.

Your new droids turned out great - I look forward to seeing the completed purple and white one that you have on the front page, I dont think anyone has made a custom of that droid before.

Wooden Droids Update
Here's some pictures of a wooden droid that I finished yesterday. He is based on a droid that appeared in 'The Great Heep'. The poor little guy didn't survive that episode, but that doesn't mean that he has to be forgotten forever! When watching The Great Heep a while ago I thought that this character was an unusual but cool model of Astromech that deserved some kind of a figure. Too bad LFL hasn't used this Astromech model again. I don't think there is even anything about this kind of droid in The Essential Guide to Droids. Anyway, as you can see in the pictures, his head can turn and be removed and his body can pivot on his legs. He is quite a bit more stocky than the actual droid on the TV show, but I wasn't trying to make a completely accurate replica anyway as I like my wooden figures to have a style all of their own.

Here's another droid from 'The Great Heep' completed. He's based on the droid that can be seen standing in the background just to the right of center in the picture below. I had to do a bit of guess work on this guy because after scouring the episode a couple times, I could only find him in this one scene where he is facing forward. Anything on the sides and back was made up by me. I'm not sure I got the colors right since it's hard to tell in that shot due to poor quality video. I wasn't intending on building a 'Great Heep' collection, but there are just so many unusual droid models in that episode that are fun to make! I'm not sure who I will make next, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's another character from 'The Great Heep'!

Really great to see those obscure little droids - I look forward to seeing more, you should tackle a KT-10 figure, that would be awesome.

I just LOVE these; you have such a steady hand ... I hated painting straight lines when I did droid customs.

Thanks Maureen! As you have probably seen on the front page, I have added Darth Vader to the set Rather than clog this thread up with more pictures, here's the link where you can see him. The Old Brooklyn Woodshop blog

That is AWESOME!! He looks fantastic. Can't wait to see more of them. Are you using your Kneesaa in the set? Will we see Chirpa?

Here's a look at some of my more recent wooden figures. The Luke is the one that went for a ride in my model rocket as seen in a different post. More pictures can be seen at my business site: theoldbrooklynwoodshop.com
