Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
My alltime favorite Ewok collectibles are the 9 pvc figures released in 1986 from Comics Spain! I first saw these in a Tomart Star Wars collectible book and immediately wanted them. They stand roughly 2" in height-3". I finally found them on Ebay several years back. I bought them from a gentleman in Germany. The set includes Wicket, Kneesaa, Latara, Paploo, and Teebo. The Droid figures are R2-D2, C-3PO, and Kez-Iban! I love them. I also recently bought two little green plastic Duloks from Panrico, a Spanish toy company. These are King Gorneesh and Umwak, the Dulok shaman. These are solid colores bright green, but the sculpts are cute. They originally came in sticker packs!

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
For those of you that enjoyed the Droids & Ewoks cartoons as a kid, and want to learn more about the Star Wars Comics Spain PVC figures - I decided to create a blog which will cover the entire line and also work as a photo archive. I will highlight every known variation in the line, as well as the repaints. I will also show all the Star Tours PVC figures and list how they can be distinguished from the Comics Spain line. I'll be updating the blog a few times a week throughout the summer until it is complete.

BTW, Chukha-Trok76 - did you ever pick up the Comics Spain Dulok figure? He is also part of the set...

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
Those figures are the best. Unfortunately, I don't have any of them! Hopefully when I am done with the majority of my house repairs I will be able to afford to start hunting them down.
Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
They really are my favorite collectibles from the cartoons - I think they are better than the Kenner figures in most regards, eventhough the animated Logray and King Gorneesh figures are still some of my favorite Kenner work ever.
You should really try to track some of them down, they are also fun to hunt for. You should be able to find R2-D2, C-3PO, and Wicket easily, the others will likely be harder to find, unless you find someone selling a set. Just be careful not to buy the Disney Star Tours versions of the three characters I mentioned above (unless you want them too), they are easily confused. Wicket and R2-D2 look very similar, but if you are after the yellow C-3PO you should have no trouble, because Star Tours only made him in brown and bronze, where Comics Spain made him in yellow and gold. The photo archives and my blog should explain that all very soon though.

They ARE hard to track down. I looked for about 5 years before i found a complete set on Ebay. Cost me about $68.00, but man I wanted those pvcs! Well worth the money in my humble opinion. Try Ebay first or online. the seller I got them from was Gus Bukzo (I know I mispelled this gentleman's name!) and he was very helpful. He also contributed to Steven Sansweet's Tomart guide to Star Wars collectibles. In fact, his name is listed as a helpful source in the very guide I first saw the Comic Spain pvcs in! I've seen a few sets of these figures on Ebay since then. The Wicket, R-2, 3-PO, and other Star Tours pvcs show up quite a bit on Ebay and usually run the gammut of $10.00-$15.00, depending on the seller.

You're right - they are hard to track down, but they are nearly 25 years old, so they are vintage collectibles. If you only paid $68 for a complete set, you did a good job - a set can go for double that. The last one I am looking for is Kneesaa with the purple flower, I have the original version with the yellow flower, but I want to own the 'running change' variation as well.
Its funny that you mention that collectible guide, I think its the same one that I saw several years ago at the library - and when I turned to that page I was wowed. I photocopied the page and told myself I'd own those someday, eventhough I didnt know much of anything about them. Now I have a full set, plus I'm tracking down all the variants and errors to have the most complete archive that exists about them - it would even rival Steve Sansweets Comics Spain collection - because I dont think he or other collectors are even aware of the variations that exist.

Hahahah! I photocopied the page they were on too! Cool for you finding the different variants. i had no idea about Kneesaa witha purple flower. Give Sansweet a friendly run for his money.

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
Great minds think alike, huh? haha I used that photocopy as my 'wish list', until I learned more about them. When it comes to variants, there are a few - the one everyone probably knows about is the gold C-3PO, it was produced in the same numbers as the yellow version. Kneesaa has the 'running change' flower color, and I spoke with a former Comics Spain employee and there were actually 4 versions of Wicket! Most of them were minor deco changes, but they updated the paint 4 times to match the cartoon colors. If you own or have seen the original Wicket, he has grey fur on his belly and pink eyes. I'll be covering all of these in the blog - hopefully by the end of next month I'll have all the figures and variants photographed for the archive.

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
I'm continually updating the blog I created when I find new errors and variants in the CS line. I've covered all the figures that were released, now I'm just tracking down the last variant I'd like to own - Kneesaa with the purple flower. I'll also be taking more comparison pictures as I add more figures to my collection.
If anyone has unique figures in their collection, like the error Kneesaa in my most recent blog entry - please feel free to contact me and share your information. I'd love to know what other errors may have been released. Thanks.

Hola!

Hello, my spanish is a bit rusty - but I will try to answer your questions. First of all, I'm glad you like the site and use it as a resource - thats what I intended it for. The figures shown on my blog are mostly from Comics Spain, which were produced in 1986, I also show the Disney Star Tours figures because they are similar - they were produced in 1990. I've taken a few pictures of Kenner figures next to Comics Spain figures just as a means of comparing the two lines. Remember, all the Comics Spain and Disney figures are made of rubbery PVC, with no articulation - while the Kenner figures are hard plastic and feature articulation and accessories. Thanks for you interest.

Hola darth_sidious!

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
I imagine the molds were destroyed when the company called Comics Spain went out of business - the same goes for the Disney figures (since they no longer produce them), they could have likely been destroyed. If Disney still has a license to produce them though, its possible they saved them in some type of archive.
The molds were different for Comics Spain and Disney though, but Disney did try to replicate what the Comics Spain figures looked like, but they didnt use the same molds. The Disney figures were actually produced in China. The numbering on the back of C-3PO's left arm is likely just a production stamp that was added to the mold, its possible that the first C-3PO mold wore out and they produced a second one, because I own two C-3PO figures, and one has a '2' and the other has a '1'.
If you have pictures of any variants or paint errors, please feel free to post them - and I will add them to the blog as well.

Re: Comics Spain Droids & Ewoks pvc figures
Hola.

The purple flower is actually a variation, not an error - what a toy company would call a 'running change'. The first batch of Kneesaa figures came with a yellow flower, the second batch was purple - I've seen several of them, but I've never bought one yet.
