So, which of the three is your favorite original trilogy Movie...ANH, ESB or ROTJ? Why is it your fav? My favorite is ROTJ, and it's not because of the Ewoks. I grew up with Jedi. I never saw the originals in the theaters until the Special Editions came along. I remember when ROTJ was released on VHS, my Dad had to reserve it at the rental place weeks in advance. It was so exciting waiting in anticipation for that day to come!! I loved the Jabba's palace scenes, they were so cool and filled with all the awesome aliens. Also over the years, the emperor has become more and more cool to me and I really enjoy all of his scenes as well. Just a fun movie all around. Empire is super cool though and an extreme close second, and while that may be the BEST in most everyone's eyes, Jedi is still MY favorite.

Mine is the original: A New Hope. When I first got into Star Wars, Return of the Jedi was just about to come out in theaters. I had already seen A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back on TV, but Return of the Jedi soon became my favorite, mainly because of all the aliens in Jabba's Palace, the coolness of Luke Skywalker as a Jedi Knight and the filming in the California redwoods, an area I had visited several times before. Return of the Jedi remained my favorite for the remainder of the 80's and probably the 90's as well. For some reason now I enjoy A New Hope the most. I love the parts with C-3PO and R2-D2. I like wise Ben Kenobi telling Luke about the force for the first time. I enjoy the cantina, Tarkin and the Death Star, and it seems like Han and Leia are at their best in this one.

My favorite is Empire Strikes Back, even though I love both of the others. Empire Strikes back to me is the gritty badass Star Wars I think of when I think of the original trilogy. Luke as a fledgling jedi facing off with vader, Boba Fett capturing Han, Dagobah and the mysticism of Yoda, the Battle of Hoth, I love it all.

Return of the Jedi, because it was the epic climax! the dual between luke an vador was suspensful and the death of jabba was something i always wanted to see lol. Just wish Boba would of had more screen time and would of lasted longer in the sarlac fight

The original is always going to be my favorite.
When I was little, I had tons of the figures and vehicles and the Darth Vader carrying case, but I wasn't a huge fan of SW until right before the '97 rerelease and for a few years after that I was heavily into everything SW until about a year after The Phantom Menace.
I found the Droids and Ewoks cartoons through the small white clamshell VHS's of Pirates and the Prince and The Haunted Village. These shows and the live-action Ewoks movies (and even the holiday special, too a lesser extent) will always feel more like SW than the prequels. While I love all of the movies for different reasons, the pre-prequel EU will always be cooler, in my opinion.

Thats a good point - I grew up with the cartoons, Ewoks movies, and ROTJ - so the furry little critters are part of my childhood, and they are just as much a part Star Wars for me as the Jedi. By the way - welcome to the site!

For me, my favorite Star wars movie is The Holiday Special...LOL, just kidding! lol! No, seriously, for me, it will always be Return of The Jedi. For many reasons. Okay, yes, our beloved Endorian warriors debut in Jedi, but it's something more for me. It's the final culmination of the Rebel Alliance's struggles and losses against The Empire. It's Luke and Annakin's final battle against their own dark side. It Admiral Ackbar yelling his infamous line: "It's A Trap!" But in the end, despite all the problems and sadness (bye bye dad!) the story is the age old triumph of Good over Evil. And Annakin does bring balance to The Force through Luke. I remember seeing it in 1983 as a kid in the darkened theater and falling in love with this whole Star Wars galaxy again. And yes, Ewoks rule! Happy Ewok

I recently scored a copy of the Holiday Special (for last year's Life Day) and I loves me some SW, but man that was tough to get through in one viewing! I really dug the Nelvana cartoon featuring Boba Fett, though. Some of the skits (I'll call them that) were okay, while others were pretty bad.

"Itchy" watching the softcore porn or whatever! That was just...weird! I did like Chewie's family on a whole, and Art Carney trying to dissuade the stormtroopers was funny. Achmena (Bea Arthur) was okay, but yeah...it was weird. I do like Lumpy though. :3

The Holiday Special is a whole separate monster - its pretty odd, anyone will admit. I do like the cartoon and the Ackmena / cantina scenes though.

I think one of the reasons why I can say that I enjoy the holiday special is because of the pretty stellar web site: http://starwarsholidayspecial.com/ They make it possible to experience the special without actually seeing it, lol.
